Annamária Vicsek, an MEP representing Fidesz–KDNP, praised the successful Serbian–Hungarian cooperation and highlighted the importance of monitoring the implementation of minority rights in EU candidate countries. She emphasized that such efforts are critical during accession negotiations to identify pathways for progress.

Speaking about an event organized in collaboration with the Brussels Liszt Institute, titled “Minority Rights in the EU Enlargement Process,” Vicsek pointed out the significance of showcasing Magyar Szó, the only Hungarian-language daily newspaper in Vojvodina, which has been in continuous publication for 80 years.
Vicsek stated that Magyar Szó exemplifies Serbia’s preparedness in the field of minority rights, serving as a benchmark for EU accession. She also lauded Serbia’s institutional and legislative framework for minority protection, suggesting it could serve as a model not only for EU candidate countries but also for certain EU member states.
The MEP highlighted the pivotal role of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (VMSZ) in advocating minority rights and underscored the importance of the exemplary strategic partnership between the Hungarian and Serbian governments. She further acknowledged the support of the provincial government of Vojvodina, the Hungarian government, and the Hungarian National Council (MNT) in ensuring the survival and development of Magyar Szó.
