Olena Zelenska, the wife of the Ukrainian President, made a working visit to Transcarpathia on August 28, where Viktor Mikita, head of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration, briefed her on the ongoing humanitarian efforts in the region. Mikita highlighted the efforts to provide food, accommodation, and other necessities for internally displaced persons, as well as psychosocial support and youth education programs.
During her visit, Zelenska toured several centers supported by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Mental health protection plays a particularly important role in the Transcarpathian region among the various programs.
One of the key highlights of the visit was her stop at the YouthSpace community center located at Uzhhorod / Ungvár National University. Created in collaboration with UNICEF, the space offers vital psychosocial support and education to young people.
Zelenska also participated in a meeting of the Transcarpathian Mental Health Task Force, where the regional implementation of the national program “How Are You?” (Ти як?) was discussed. At the conclusion of her working visit, the First Lady expressed her gratitude to the people of Transcarpathia for their significant efforts in supporting Ukrainians during difficult circumstances, and she acknowledged the important work being done in the region.
