Hungarian Minority Conditions Included in Framework Document on EU Negotiations with Ukraine

On June 14, an agreement was reached on the framework for EU negotiations with Ukraine! The legal protection of the Hungarian minority in Sub-Carpathia is now officially part of Ukraine’s accession process raising specific educational, linguistic and other rights to the European level. Ukraine has committed to addressing and fulfilling 11 points of concern presented by the Hungarian government, as well as to respecting the 1991 Hungarian-Ukrainian basic treaty. The European Commission will also monitor Ukraine’s fulfillment of these commitments, which are prerequisites for advancement in the accession process. The Cultural Alliance of Hungarians in Sub-Carpathia (KMKSZ) issued a statement supporting the positive development.
