If you live in the United States, you will be counted during the 2020 census. It is important that under the question about your race, you not only check the appropriate box but write in “HUNGARIAN” so that the Hungarian-American community can be officially counted. Accurate statistics are vital to serving our mission, and presenting your concerns and aspirations to decision-makers.
In 2000 the census counted 1.399 million Americans of at least partial Hungarian origin. In 2010, that number rose to 1.537 million, namely because of reporting! If you have more than one ancestry, write that in as well if you’d like, just make sure you also name “Hungarian.” Take the Census and write in “HUNGARIAN” under question 9.
