Agreement Reached on Government Coalition: RMDSZ to Have Two Ministers

On Sunday evening, pro-European parties reached an agreement on forming the government: the coalition will include the PSD, PNL, and RMDSZ, with the support of the national minority group. The RMDSZ will oversee two key ministries and have a Deputy Prime Minister.

The announcement came from the RMDSZ on Sunday evening after extensive discussions throughout the day regarding the allocation of ministries. The alliance’s statement confirmed earlier media reports that it will lead the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Development in the new government.

The RMDSZ revealed that the new government will consist of 16 ministries. For the first time, the RMDSZ will have a Minister of Finance, with Barna Tánczos also serving as Deputy Prime Minister, while Attila Cseke will head the Ministry of Development.

“We sought the support and trust of the Hungarian community during the campaign to bring rationality back into decision-making and protect citizens, including Hungarians, from the dangers ahead,” the RMDSZ statement read. It emphasized that the government’s most urgent task is to stabilize the national budget.

“This is the priority, and we will not allow additional burdens or taxes to be imposed on citizens,” they asserted.

The RMDSZ added that they will continue programs supporting families and young people while aiming to create a predictable economic environment where entrepreneurs and investors can develop securely. They also pledged to support public investments that promote development and improve quality of life, from the smallest villages to major cities.

The new government is expected to be sworn in on Monday evening, as announced by the RMDSZ.
